HAUNTINGS (?)
In Collected we have made an in game mechanic where characters can go investigate, or experience, Hauntings that happen within the mall... or, at least that's what you think they might be. The location changes every month, with new opportunities for spooks and items to be collected - with some scares being sinister, and others silly. All you have to do to complete the mission is to go into where the Haunting is happening, whatever store it may be at, and the rest is up to you! There are no real requirements other than exposing your poor character to the weird horrors that lie in wait.
By submitting a thread of 10 comments (5 from each character), you and your thread partner will each receive a reward. These will vary depending on the Haunting, and you and your partner may not get the same reward! Every location can be visited up to two times, so that means your character can receive two items total if they decide to brave the Haunting multiple times!
Additionally, your Haunting explorations are not limited to two character threads - you may do them with three or more characters if you want to, provided that each character in the thread has 5 comments upon you submitting the thread.
Here is where you can submit the forms for our monthly Hauntings! There will be a comment posted at the beginning of each month detailing what the Haunting will be like. To turn in your threads for a reward, simply reply to the corresponding month's comment with the code below - be sure to put in as much detail as you want, and we will reply with whatever items your character (or characters!) have earned.

But the longer you stay inside, the more you seem to notice that.. Something is wrong with your reflection.
» Sometimes your reflection won't make eye contact with you! Or if it does, it does so belatedly (spooky!).
» You'll notice your reflection will start to control you. It doesn't matter if you don't look into it; so long as you are in front of a mirror, it's possible. The severity of the possession will vary from person to person - they can have complete control over your body, or you can just have difficulty moving the way you want to. However, once the reflection is in control, it will try to make you attack whoever is with you. Subtly, stealthily, of course, when your companion is least expecting it - kind of like this, or like this. You may fight it as much as you like, but in the end, your reflection will always just overpower you by a smidge. Got a weapon on you? Abilities? It’ll try to use them. If not, expect your reflection to prompt you towards any of the shards of glass on the ground to try and sneak a weapon.
» Once you become aware of the control, you’ll find it’s impossible to speak about it. You can respond fine to any other prompts, make small talk, answer other questions. But you’ll find whenever you try to let your companion know about how you can’t move, or try to warn them of what’s happening, your voice and lips betray you - you can’t talk about it! If asked directly by your companion, you’ll merely end up assuring them you are totally fine.
» It gets worse if you try to leave the store - you'll have to either avoid being in the view of a mirror, or break a lot to be able to leave. It'll be extremely difficult because this store is full of them. While when characters are not in the view of any mirrors, they will have control again, be warned that the areas inside the store that are “blind spots” to the mirrors are very few and far between.
» Finally, any mirrors broken during characters’ venture inside are eerily restored the next day.

Summary: Two idols walk into a pretty looking store because they like looking at themselves and also lights. One idol gets mirror possessed and stabs the other in the back of the neck, and then in the hand, and then in the back a lot as he's carried out of the store like a ragdoll. There's some Hamlet in there, and a lot of suffering about how they are a family and how family doesn't hurt each other. The end result is "this store is just bad" and I think this is probably where Wataru finds out about the whole healing thing, even though that's not really part of the Haunting... . . .

» Inside, there are various antique and modern musical trinkets - windable music boxes, jewelry boxes with dancing ballerinas, and even snowglobes that can be wound to play little tunes. All these curios will be stocked on the (now restored) shelves, shimmering clean and not a fleck of dust on them.
» That’s not all, though. Characters who wander into this store to play with the musical trinkets will find that any that they go through the effort of winding will play music from their homeland. The songs can be famous pop songs, folk songs, or maybe even battle hymns and sea shanties - feel free to be creative with what sorts of tunes might come out of these trinkets!
» Characters will find that each different box they pick up will play a different tune - and that the boxes will always play familiar tunes to whoever wound it. This means that if Character A winds a music box, it’ll play a song from A’s homeland. If Character A then passes the box to Character B, and B winds it, it’ll now play a song from B’s homeland. Weird! Something special is going on with this store and these boxes.
» Strangely enough, boxes taken outside from this store will cease function - the nodes and gears that allowed them to play music simply won’t produce sound anymore.
