LOCATIONS
Second Floor
Food Court
- The food court has typical restaurants you would find in a North American Mall, with varying amounts of non-perishables scattered about and frozen food locked inside walk-in freezers. The quality and expiration dates of these rations also vary. However there is nothing nearby to reliably heat up that food - better get to pillaging!
Department Stores
- All department stores have looked like they have seen better days - some of them may be infested with a variety of bugs. But if you don’t mind sifting through different spiders and roaches, you might be able to find a couple useful items typical of a department store (ex. towels, shampoo, over the counter medicine, even recreational items like board games) hidden beneath the debris. Portions of the store that were meant for selling furniture still stand: you’ll find an array of couches, beds, tables, and chairs with a thick layer of dust on them still up on display. If you’re looking for furniture to sleep on - these would be the stores to go to.
Clothing Stores
- For clothing stores, most of the inventory in these places have been taken. Finding articles of clothing (or shoes, underwear, anything in between) is possible, but it will take some intense searching to find it in your size (or style.)
Electronic Stores
- Electronic stores located in this mall will have a fraction of their inventory on the floor, clearly ransacked and clearly a mess. This is where characters will be able to get their phone here to access the network. As far as any other devices, whatever they may find could very well be a dud - but at least the outlets seem to work a little more consistently over here!
Gym
- As it says on the tin! There's a gym with showering facilities - that, strangely, seem to work just fine.. With clean and clear water coming out of the water fountains and shower heads.
Playground
- The small, penned play area on the second floor is themed around summer camp. There's the remnants of trees painted on the short walls that box the playground, and the things to clamber and play on are all shaped like forest animals or trees. Hanging above the play area is a raccoon dressed as a camp counselor, though whatever bolts were holding his head right side up have become loose - it's gone upside down!
Internet Cafe
- The internet cafe is the only place with working computers that characters can access for the network. For the most part, the dilapidation that has touched the rest of the mall has barely scratched the surface here - all the furniture inside is still mainly in tact, touched by dust more so than decay. There are a couple vending machines located inside this establishment but all the food stocked inside is rotted and no good!
BOTTOM FLOOR
- The first floor of the mall is entirely flooded with inky black water. It has a foul odor emitting from it, and will stain your clothing the very same shade. What characters can notice upon looking down at the mass, is that anything the water touches that is made of steel, or iron, is extremely corroded. Is it worth really going back down there?
THE OUTSIDE
- If any character takes a look outside one of the many windows located inside the mall they’ll be greeted with the sight of a parking lot. And just that - there’s barely anything for miles outside of that. The concrete, itself, is dry and cracked, the paint marking out each parking spot worn and barely there. The air outside is thick and heavy, particularly hard to inhale without any equipment to help. It’s nearly impossible to take a breath without keeling over from the burn of the air outside.
And if the quality of life outside the mall doesn’t deter you, the blistering heat hovering above you might. The sky, rather than blue, is a vibrant orange, the sun radioactive in nature. The longer you stay out there, the more your skin will begin to bubble with welts, as though reacting to a chemical.
The doors to the mall are unlocked, so characters have the freedom to explore as they wish. Provided they are ready for the consequences of doing so.
